Too often I hear one say or read where one has written that we spend too much time talking about God's love, and not enough time warning about eternal life in hell. For some reason the same teachers who say we talk too much of love also teach that the trick of the devil was to say that there is no hell. Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:4-5). The trick of the devil was to say that we could sin and still have eternal life ("You will not surely die"). Through the grace of God, brought to us by His love, we can believe and have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20). A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34). We have been commanded to teach God's command to love one another. We have a commandment to teach love. Love God and love your neighbor, "On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 22:40).
